After conquering the rest of the world with chart-topping albums and sold-out tours, Finland’s HIM won over the States with its 2005 US debut, the Top 20-charting Dark Light, the first album by a Finnish band to go gold in the US, selling more than half a million copies. In 2007, Venus Doom elevated the band’s “summer of goth” to even harder and heavier heights, with the album debuting at #12 in the US. HIM’s latest release, the CD/DVD package – DIGITAL VERSATILE DOOM – LIVE AT THE ORPHEUM THEATRE XXXVII A.S. – features a 90-minute 2007 concert from the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles, including selections from Venus Doom, Dark Light and previous releases, plus music videos, shorts, band interviews, fan contest videos and other bonuses — bringing the HIM concert experience (and more) to an ever growing legion of fans everywhere.
The concert and many of the videos were directed by MTV and Grammy®-winning Meiert Avis (U2, Audioslave, Bruce Springsteen, New Found Glory, Avril Lavigne). The release of the Digital Versatile Doom – Live At The Orpheum CD/DVD will be concurrent with the launch of HIM’s 2008 European tour. Last year, the band supported Metallica there before joining the Linkin Park–headlined Projekt Revolution Tour across America and then headlining its own US theater tour. Along with its US success, Venus Doom reached the Top 40 in the UK, #2 in Finland and #3 in Germany. “Passion’s Killing Floor” was heard on the Transformers soundtrack. Dark Light spun off the Top 20 Modern Rock and Mainstream Rock hit “Rip Out The Wings Of A Butterfly.” Digital Versatile Doom – Live At The Orpheum CD/DVD will be released and available for purchase in stores on April 29.
