| The
Dandy Warhols' critically acclaimed fourth album, WELCOME
TO THE MONKEY HOUSE is set for release on August 19.
The album - which was the #1 Most Added release at college
radio - features the hit single, "We Used To Be
Friends," which has begun scoring at multi-format
radio outlets nationwide.
In
other news, the Dandys - who have been personally chosen
to support on David Bowie's upcoming European tour,
kicking off October 7th in Copenhagen, with dates running
through a November 26th gig at London's Wembley Arena
- recently returned from Toronto, where they shot an
appearance in the upcoming Walt Disney Pictures film,
Confessions Of A Teenage Drama Queen. The film sees
the band performing the WELCOME TO THE MONKEY HOUSE
track, "The Dandy Warhols Love Almost Everyone."
Confessions Of A Teenage Drama Queen, which stars Lindsay
Lohan (Freaky Friday, The Parent Trap), is set for a
Spring 2004 release. The band also has a new song, "The
Last High," in the new Tomb Raider movie.
WELCOME
TO THE MONKEY HOUSE has already been met with early
critical praise. "Smarter, bouncier, and more full
of insidious electronic hooks than its predecessors,"
declared Blender, while Alternative Press hailed the
album's "relentless rhythms and boisterous basslines,"
noting that "the disc's quick-paced tunes...convey
a party atmosphere with group chants, call-and-response
interaction and 'whoo-whoo!' exclamations."
WELCOME
TO THE MONKEY HOUSE is highlighted by guest appearances
from Duran Duran vocalist Simon LeBon, and renowned
Chic guitarist/producer Nile Rodgers. The album - which
takes its title from Kurt Vonnegut Jr.'s classic 1968
short story collection - also features studio contributions
by such producers as the legendary Tony Visconti (David
Bowie, T.Rex) and LeBon's Duran Duran bandmate Nick
Rhodes. The 12-track collection was mixed by Jeremy
Wheatley (Spice Girls, Boyzone, Sophie Ellis Bextor),
and includes programming and mixing by Yoad Nevo (Daniel
Beddingfield, Sugababes, Ash).
The
Dandy Warhols are: Courtney Taylor-Taylor: guitar, vocals,
keyboards; Peter Loew (formerly Holmstrom): guitar;
